Mexican Gulf Coast Rocked by Early Morning Quake October 30, 2009
Quake Map of Mexico
Parts of Mexico’s Gulf of Mexico coastline were jolted by a 5.4 magnitude quake before dawn on Thursday, but there were no immediate reports of significant damage or injuries.

Buildings in the coastal state capital of Veracruz shook for several seconds at 4:53 a.m. local time, as well as several offshore oil facilities.

A spokesman for the state oil company Pemex, which operates an extensive network of oil and gas platforms, said all of it’s facilities were operating normally despite the jolt.

The U.S. Geological Survey placed the epicenter about 45 miles east of Veracruz at a depth of about 6 miles beneath the Gulf of Mexico.
