Maylay fishermen celebrated huge catches of "ikan duri" (marine catcish) thanks to undersea seismic activity.
Fishermen off the Peninsular Malaysian states of Kelantan and Terengganu managed to haul in their biggest catch in 15 years after a powerful undersea earthquake apparently drove a large number of fish into their nets.
Nat Zin Omar told the Bernama new agency that his usual catch is about 2,200 pounds, but he caught 11,000 pounds following a nearby quake.
A local meteorological official said it is not uncommon for fish to gather in large numbers as they seek shelter from such earthquakes or tsunamis.
