Indonesian Quake Shakes Up Sulawesi March 6, 2009

Thousands of residents in the heart of Indonesia’s Sulawesi Island rushed from their homes on Monday morning as a sharp temblor jolted the region.

The country’s meteorology and geophysics agency said the 5.7 magnitude quake struck at 7:03 a.m. local time about 15 miles (24 km) southwest of Palu.

Most reports of strong shaking came from that city, according to the agency.

There were no reports of significant damage or any injuries due to the shaking.
