Cyclone Innis was weak and disorganized as it passed over the French overseas territory of New Caledonia.
An area of disturbed weather from around the South Pacific island nation of Vanuatu consolidated into Cyclone Innis just before reaching New Caledonia on Tuesday night.
Only a small area near the center of circulation received tropical storm-force winds, and the main effect of Innis’ passage over the French overseas territory was widespread beneficial rain.
The storm began to lose force Wednesday morning as it encountered cooler waters to the south of New Caledonia.
