Tropical Cyclone Anika Churns Indian Ocean November 28, 2008
Poorly organized Cyclone Anika can be seen rushing toward the coast of northwestern Australia.
The first named storm of the tropical cyclone season in the eastern Indian Ocean formed near Australia’s remote Cocos Island.

Cyclone Anika only attained storm force, and dissipated to a tropical low well before bringing rainfall to the coast of northwestern Australia.

The country’s Bureau of Meteorology predicts an active cyclone season with between five and seven storms for Western Australia this year, compared to four last season.
