Iranian Quake Injures 8 October 31, 2008
Quake Map of Iran
The strongest of four sharp earthquakes that struck in Iran’s Hormozgan province within a 24-hour period injured eight people and damaged several buildings.

The IRNA news agency reports the tremors ranged from magnitude 3.7 to magnitude 5.0 from early Saturday to early Sunday.

Many residents near the epicenter slept outdoors in fear that a stronger quake could strike overnight.

IRNA said the shaking also unleashed a landslide that blocked the road linking Bandar Lengeh to the provincial capital of Bandar Abbas for several hours.

Several strong earthquakes have jolted the same area in recent weeks.

A 6.1 magnitude jolt in early September killed 7 people and was felt across the Persian Gulf in the United Arab Emirates.
