Hurricane Norbert Kills 4 in Mexico October 17, 2008
Hurricane Norbert can be seen swirling off the southern tip of Mexico's Baja California peninsula.
Authorities say at least four people were killed by Hurricane Norbert when it swept across northwestern Mexico’s Baja California peninsula and state of Sonora on Saturday.

Norbert made landfall in southern Baja California as a category two storm, ripping off roofs, knocking down trees and leaving more than 20,000 homes without electricity.

It was still packing winds over 100 mph (160 km/h) after it crossed the peninsula and Sea of Cortez, and made a second landfall on the Mexican mainland near Los Mochis.

This area produces a major portion of North America's winter produce, and heavy rainfall from the storm swamped many fields being prepared for fall planting.
