The small and disorganized mass of clouds that comprised Tropical Storm Marco can be seen approaching the Mexican coast near Veracruz.
Tiny Tropical Storm Marco quickly lost what force it had attained over Mexico’s Bay of Campeche after it blew ashore along the country’s Gulf coast north of Veracruz.
At the peak of Marco’s intensity, winds of tropical storm force only reached outward about 30 miles from the center of circulation.
But as a precaution, Mexico's state oil company evacuated 33 workers from four offshore platforms in the Bay of Campeche, closed six wells and shut down a natural gas processing plant in Veracruz state prior to Marco's arrival.
There were no reports of damage in any of the five oil fields that lie beneath the Bay of Campeche.
They comprise the second-most-productive oil extraction area in the world.
