Tropical Storm 02B (Two) can be seen making landfall southwest of Calcutta.
An area of disturbed weather over the northern Bay of Bengal strengthened into Tropical Storm 02B (Two) just before making landfall on India’s Orissa coast on Tuesday evening.
The India Meteorological Department said the storm brought winds of about 30-35 mph (45-55 km/h) and heavy rainfall when it moved ashore.
The agency predicted remnants of the storm would bring torrential rainfall to many parts of northern India and parts of Nepal through the weekend.
Some computer models were projecting that another tropical low would spin up in the Bay of Bengal within the following several days.
