Tropical Storm Lowell Dampens Baja California September 12, 2008
Tropical Storm Lowell can be seen becoming disorganized to the south of Baja California on Monday.
An area of disturbed weather to the west of Mexico’s Pacific resort of Puerto Vallarta developed into Tropical Storm Lowell on Sunday, far from any significant land areas.

Forecasters had predicted the storm would attain hurricane force and move westward across the open Pacific.

But Lowell began to weaken and drift northward toward Baja California instead on Monday.

Remnants of the storm did bring drenching rains to the southern tip of the Baja peninsula before delivering more precipitation to the Mexican mainland state of Sonora on Wednesday.
