Tropical Storm Drenches Olympic Site August 8, 2008
Poorly organized Tropical Storm Kammuri can be seen passing south of Hong Kong before striking coastal Guangdong Province.
Some Olympic equestrian venues sustained light damage when Tropical Storm Kammuri moved ashore to the southwest of Hong Kong.

The third such storm of the season in South China brought heavy rain to Guangdong province before dissipating over the high terrain of far northern Vietnam.

Chinese officials had evacuated nearly 400,000 people living in low-lying coastal areas as a precaution before the storm arrived.

But, there were no immediate reports of significant damage or fatalities due to Kammuri’s high winds and heavy rains.
